African Reunion
Now that there is a so-called “peace” agreement in Sudan, many of the Lost Boys are going to Africa to find relatives who survived the genocide. In June of 2006, Gabriel Kuany learned that his mom and brother were alive. Prior to that there had been no news for 20 years. On December 23, 2006, he went to Africa to find them. There are no phones or mail in the Sudan, so it took a month to locate them. They were finally reunited in late January 2007 in Eldoret, Kenya. There are thousands of Sudanese refugees living there. Most are ill and living in poverty. They cannot work because they are not citizens. They have great faith and all send their greetings to American friends in the name of the Lord God Almighty. They thank everyone who has helped the Lost Boys make a new life in America. Use your mouse to view the slide show of Gabriel's trip by clicking on the "Next" and "Previous" labels below: |
