SCHOLARSHIPS CHANGE THE LIVES OF THE LOST BOYS
The Lost Boys of Sudan have a saying: "Education is our mother and father." Unlike most Americans, they have no parents to
help them with their education. They say there are only two things they
need—their education and their teeth. Both,
they feel, are vital to their future success in our country. They believe that education will speak for
them, since their parents cannot.
Most of the Lost Boys are living at or below
the poverty line, and most are working long hours and going to school
fulltime. Most are working
at menial jobs for low pay, and they know that in order to avoid a
permanent cycle of poverty, they must get college degrees or graduate
from a technical school. If financial
problems crop up, as they do, they have to leave school since they
cannot afford the tuition and books, pushing back the timeline for
becoming self-sufficient.
Knowing these young men as we do, we firmly
believe that with our help, they will become outstanding citizens of
this country. One day, we will be so
proud that we were a part of extending our hand to them.
We have awareded a total of $68,000 in
scholarships. More help is needed. You
can change their lives by donating.
